Assuming that you like to read, do you have a book that changed reading for you? The first book you couldn't put down or that made you love a certain genre?

I think my answer to this is disappointing to people. I got turned on to horror in middle school by reading Stephen King, and that's only because that's what absolutely everyone was reading at the time, all the time. It was half of the books on any given grocery store shelf. Which makes me think if something else had been popular at the time none of this would have happened. Still, he taught me the one thing I needed to know, which is that if you like the characters, the monster isn't all that important. The reader feels horror because they don't want to see anything bad happen to these people.

I just finished WtHDIJR. Is the ending meant to be so open ended? Or is this a thing where if I go back and read again it'll make more sense? Are the things that don't make sense explained away just by saying that David made up a narrative to suit his purposes?

Have you ever lived in Colorado? I'm a Colorado native, and I'm not sure why but the way you write makes me think you've at least spent a bit of time here..... After reading John Dies and Spiders you instantly jumped up to one of my very favorite authors. I just started reading Futuristic Violence and when I saw Colorado mentioned in the first few sentences I freaked! -in a good way-
