You are a gem! In truth, the author/reader contract is fulfilled so long as you are reading a legally acquired copy. No reader owes an author a review.
Reviews really do help authors, though. And the fact that you appreciate that makes me happy. Reviews help others find books. And they also help promotional companies (like Bookbub et al) decide whether or not to feature a book.
