Matt asked Lee Child:

How do you go about researching all of the U.S. Army details used in the books? For example, the experience on different bases, comments about the different units in the military, and details about weapons and vehicles.

Lee Child My father spent time in the army and I remember clearly all the stories he told. Now I get correspondence from current serving soldiers. The dynamic between enlisted men and the higher-ups hasn’t changed in all these years - probably not since the Romans. Or even earlier.
