Why did Dana cut Rufus and then her hand got trapped in a wall when she was transported back to present time??? lol

Ar I wondered about this myself. I get that it was due to her arm being trapped under Rufus during her last trip. But the transition from Rufus to the wa…moreI wondered about this myself. I get that it was due to her arm being trapped under Rufus during her last trip. But the transition from Rufus to the wall seemed rather random, unless I'm missing some symbolism or deeper meaning there.

OK the whole novel is fantastical but I could follow the logic of the warp in other parts but that one stuck out for me too. (less)
