I don't think the first book is bad, but it definitely has a lot of tropes and cliches of YA books, but as a whole this series is one of the best I've ever read, and reread the books so often that all my books are in tatters. I have searched for book series that match Sarah J Maas and I usually fall short. There are characters you will and will not like in the book but the dynamic amount of personalities really makes it a good read.(less)
