I like the fact that Celaena could kick ass, but was still a bit whiny (so tired of sweet/self-sacrificing heroines). I also like the fact that she's a strong heroine who is still attractive (there seems to be a recent trend that females who are strong are plain and/or pudgy). That being said, it worth it to read them if only because it gets you to the 3rd book, which is absolutely one of my favorite books ever. The interaction/relationship between her and Rowan is beyond words and I'm obsessively awaiting the 4th. (less)
