The City in the Middle of the Night:
It's a standalone, right? Or is it gonna suddenly become "first in a series" after I read it and come across some sort of cliffhanger at the end? (Someone who has read it already, please tell it doesn't have any of those and can be read as a standalone)

The ending has sequel written all over it as far as I’m concerned. As it stands, I found the ending wholly unsatisfying and somewhat aggravating.
