What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Travis Haugen Your characters become your friends. They reflect back to you previously unknown thoughts and feelings about yourself, as all friends do. They help you grow. Also, the sheer joy of watching a thought become a living reality can't be beat. When I write, it's as though I'm a third party watching the story unfold, almost as though I'm reading the story instead of writing the story. The story merely channels through me from an unknown dimension. Writing takes me to a different reality. Let's face it, we get to be anyone we want to be through the pages of our books, if only for a while.
