A Goodreads user asked Rachel Caine:

I want to be author when i grow up, I am 14 right now. do u have any tips for writing a book and all?

Rachel Caine Hi, Hamd! Thank you for asking, and I'm sorry I'm so late answering ... I've been writing! :)

I started writing when I was 14, too ... the best advice I can give you is don't try writing a book at first. Just try writing a story. Maybe that story will be short, maybe long. It could turn into a book! But the most important thing is to write and enjoy writing. It's easy to be impatient and want something fast, but this is a slow process (and a slow business) ... think about music, for instance. You can't jump from never having played an instrument before to playing concerts in a few months (or even a year). Writing takes time to learn how to tell stories. So let yourself learn and grow and find your voice. I wish you the best, and I'm looking forward to buying YOUR books someday!
