I actually liked this better. IBGITD was good, but jumped around a lot. This book pretty much stuck to the time line and hearing how they caught this P.O.S was so awesome! Persistence and determination for the win!

You would be fine without I'll Be Gone, but both are great in their own ways. Evil Has A Name gave me a really satisfying conclusion or epilogue for I'll Be Gone, but if you read both I would also recommend some time between because it can seem repetitive since it's the same case. Both are great, but can be read separately.
Brianna Gardner
Personally, no. I thought a lot of information was repetitive, they do a good job explaining in this book. I personally thought this book was MUCH more interesting and sucked me in more than "I'll be Gone in the Dark"
Craig Wickmann
I don't think you have to read both books, but both are interesting and offer slightly different perspectives of the killer. If you choose to read both, it doesn't matter which order. "I'll Be Gone In The Dark" is more of an overview from a journalistic perspective. "Evil Has A Name" is more of an inside story of the investigation.
