It is a little scary, but it is like a child horror style, isn't it? More darky than scary. I think it is like Roald Dahl's books, and a child, most of them, at least, can read these comics without any problem.

I think given the light elements of horror, if the child is unfamiliar or uncomfortable with horror, I would suggest waiting until they are 9-10 years old. The text itself is simple and easy for a younger child to read, but the background and social context might connect better to a child who is a little older.
