Write what stirs your interest and your passion. You can tell when someone has written for money and it only really worked for Shakespeare and Daniel Defoe - posthumously. Get your stuff properly edited and if you can't afford an editor, buy the software to do it yourself. There is nothing worse than a great plot and characters and poor execution.
