Goodreads asked J. Douglas Bottorff:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

J. Douglas Bottorff If I'm working on a book, I find it helpful to go back and edit things I've already written. This will often start the writing flow again. If I'm working on a blog, which I try to do daily, I find that if I start on a subject that is a struggle, it's often because there is a better subject that comes easier. A piece that begins with a struggle (block) often opens if I just keep going. If it's too much of a struggle, I'll drop writing for that morning and do something else. Writing is an option and it needs to be inspiring and creative. Otherwise, it becomes an unproductive labor.
