Love Cat Clarke she is one of my favourites (if not my favourite author). however, I take issue with the plot of this book. Why did the student need to be transgender to take issue with their sexist school dress code? Couldn't a female student not want to wear a skirt without believing shes a boy inside? Seems to be fighting sexism with sexism. No issue with a story about a trans kid but this specific plot?

Trans kids need to be acknowledged and supported, but there isn't much literature out there for them. I feel like Liv fighting on the side of everyone is the opposite of sexism as he realizes this doesn't just effect him, but his friends and the entire school.

Also, Liv isn't a female student believe he's a boy inside. He is a boy. (less)
