A Goodreads user asked Kasie West:

Hi, Kasie! I have yet another question for you today. What I want to know is, how much different are your first drafts from your final drafts? How much editing/re-writing do you have to do before a book is ready for publication?

Kasie West It depends on the book. Sometimes there very similar. Sometimes I rearrange a lot of things or cut a whole person (I did that once!) or a whole subplot. All the time I need to add details and beef them up, flesh them out (and whatever other metaphor we can use here). And honestly, I never feel like it's ready. Ever. Ha. I just work on it until someone says, okay, enough. Or I get sick of it and say, I don't want to look at this anymore. I really do try not to over edit. I count on eyes that aren't mine because I'm too close to the project, to help me make the call.
