How long does it take you on average to write a book?

Kasie West Each book is different. The shortest amount of time it took me to write a book was about 6 weeks and the longest, 6 months. That's just a first draft though. After that I have to edit and edit some more and let people read it to tell me what works and what doesn't and then edit some more. So yes, it's a process. :)
