A friend on a Bujold centered email list says today is your birthday. Many Happy Returns of the Day, with lots of maple mead or bug butter ice cream. Did you do something fun?
Lois McMaster Bujold
Yes! It was very self-indulgent. Treated myself to a massage, hit Lund's/Byerly's grocery for decadent supplies, swung by the library, watched some of the anime series I'm presently binging on till I ran out of DVDs, then spent the rest of the time reading. Perfect cocooning plan for a gray November day.
I will have the dinner out later in the month, with my usual birthday dinner round-robin group, but I prefer to avoid restaurants on Fridays and Saturdays, having become crankily allergic to noise and crowds.

Hello! I've just started Shards of Honor and I'm absolutely entranced. Your writing is so visual and captivating. I'm hooked! For many many years you've been one of my sister's absolute favorite authors and I was wondering if you have any signings or appearances planned, so we might try to make a point to come out and see you some time and nerd out about science fiction? Thank you!

Lois, I noticed in reading Chalion/Paladins that out of all modern fantasy 'greats', your writing in the medieval 'idiom' is the most authentic in terms of colloquialism / style of language / manner of speaking, syntax, turns of phrase. Many authors write very 'modern' medieval prose. How/where do you learn this authentic manner of accurate syntax/dialogue/prose? Reading a lot of historical fiction, or? Thanks!

I Whole-heartily Love All Your Books. I've read (or listened) to all of them at least twice. Re-listening to the Sharing Knife series for the 4th time currently. Recently I re-read The Spirit Ring novel. Like all your works, it was wonderfully done. There were so many possibilities and hints for more. Please forgive me if you've already answered this, but why was there no Follow-up to The Spirit Ring?
