Kari Williams
Kari Williams asked Paula Brackston:

Are time steppers immortal? Can't she then, go back and get William? If Gideon learned it, can't Elizabeth and Tegan? What was Gideon doing while the twins tortured Tegan all those days? Elizabeth was so distraught in book two. Book two made her look like a novice and she was so fierce in book one. I got the whole student surpassing the teacher vibe, but Elizabeth needs a book 3 to redeem herself! Lol I need a book 3!

Paula Brackston Hi Kari, I've only just seen your question, so sorry! It slipped through the system somehow. You raise lots of interesting points. Firstly, the business of time stepping is not without risks, and can only be undertaken with a time stepper of long standing and great skill. It is not something Elizabeth or Tegan could do on their own. Gideon was a man with so many schemes and plans I imagine he was busy attending to other matters like those which gave him a living. Also, he wanted Tegan's resolve and spirit to be reduced by being held captive and he trusted them to guard her, which was short sighted of him, really. On your final point, there is always a tricky balance to strike when one character becomes more prominent in a story than another. For some that point is found, for others not. As you say, we need book three!
