A Goodreads user asked Kasie West:

Do you ever abandon projects? This is my most Terrible Habit and something I struggle with BIG time as a writer. If you aren't a project abandon-er, how do you continue a WIP when you get that "this-sucks-and-I-would-rather-eat-a-bucket-of-live-scorpions-than-continue-writing-this-drivel"? Especially for someone like me, who doesn't have to write under duress--aka, no deadline, no agent breathing down my neck... ;)

Kasie West So I guess the question you have to ask yourself is if you *always* abandon projects. Do you always get to a certain point and think, this is crap? If so, then you need to force yourself past that point. I definitely get to a point where I think, this is hard and I don't know how to do this part and besides, it's not turning out how I thought and this new shiny idea over here looks so much better. But, because I know this about myself and my writing, I just grit my teeth and push past that part that usually comes at about 30K words. Now, if you just do this sometimes and sometimes you actually finish projects, then I think your fine. Because yes, I've had projects that just weren't working for one reason or another and I've left them and moved on to something different. But I will tell you that the new project always looks better than the old boring one that's been giving you so much grief. So push through push through.
