Amy asked Kasie West:

Hi Kasie! I am a big fan of your books, particularly The Distance Between Us!!! <3 Xander+Caymen I was hoping you could give me advice on becoming a writer myself. I'm 17 and cannot figure out my future career but keep coming back to writing. Any tips/advice for me??

Kasie West Aw. Thank you. So glad you enjoyed it. Tips....hmmm......that's hard because everyone writes different and different things work for everyone. But I think the advice I always give because this is pretty universal is: Write write write and read read read. The more you write, the better you are going to become. Finish a book, edit it, then start on a new book. I'm not saying don't try to get the book you finished published, but as you are trying to do that, keep writing. Don't sit and wait because that process can take a lot time. And of course read read read. The more you read, the more story structure and good storytelling will become part of your nature. You will internalize that and transfer skills to your own writing. You will learn what does and doesn't work as you read. What you enjoy and what you don't. Good luck to you!
