Which books have been your favourites and how do you choose an artist to write about? After reading Artemis I happen to see a movie about her and I was disgusted how their turned her character into erotism when in fact she was raped. Did you see the movie? If so what was your reaction?

Yes I did see the 1998 French film produced by Agnes Merlet which was entirely inaccurate historically. She did NOT fall in love with her rapist as this film presents the story, nor did she depend on him for her instruction or her success. The film was a disservice to the real Artemisia Gentileschi.

Dear Ms. Vreeland, I grew up in San Diego and I remember being handed your book "Girl in Hyacinth Blue", by my teacher in the 8th grade. It was a recommendation that the teacher had picked out just for me and it has stuck with me throughout all these years. It felt like magic.
