Why is the narrator character living in Oregon? There seems no link to Oregon in the story, except for a saved Allied pilot who is from Bend, Oregon. But there is no other connection to him with either Vianne or Isabelle.
Anna I thought the same thing. I assumed that they left war ravaged France for a new life but no where is it mentioned.
