I first came up with the concept when I was in my second year of uni. We were having a lecture on DNA and I started to wonder whether in the future our technology would be so advanced we'd be able to pin-point from birth exactly what someone would be best at. There's so much you can already tell from a person's DNA, so it seemed possible. That's when the idea of Neo-Babel developed - a society where everyone is streamed at birth into a social class and eventually a job.
The story, characters and settings all evolved from there! x
