Hi Mindy!! I recently met you at Stillwater,MN and purchased your latest book~ Leave No Trace. I absolutely LOVED this book. I grew up in a small town in WI which was about 40 miles from Duluth. I was able to relate to many of the locations you mentioned as i’ve been there. Your writing really draws the reader into the book. Was hard to put down. Do you base your books on places you actually visit?

Hi Loretta! I'm so happy you enjoyed LEAVE NO TRACE! I do tend to write about places I've visited, because I want the settings and environment to feel as real as possible for my readers. I visit Duluth often and took a research trip to the Boundary Waters for LEAVE NO TRACE. My next book is set in Minneapolis, which is where I'm from, but I still devoted a lot of time to walking the streets and skyways to see the city as my characters would. Just finished reading EYWMTB. The scene towards the end of the book where Hattie is convincing Peter to go to New York is very powerful. I found it thought-provoking that neither Hattie nor Peter were being judged (by you) about the appropriateness of their relationship. It didn't work in this case, but under different circumstances it may have.? Andrew

I should've known better Ms Mejia, I believe you sent me this book a long time ago and I had neglected to read it. I am so glad I am doing so now! It is 'kick-ass' good. I am of the opinion that when we are meant to understand a book, we need to be able to learn its' teachings. Why did it take me so long to get to yours?
