Cathy Lee
Cathy Lee asked Genevieve Cogman:

I just want to say that I love your books, I have not been this captivated since Harry Potter! Where did you get your inspiration for these books?

Genevieve Cogman Thank you! I'm very glad that you're enjoying them.

To be honest, I get inspiration from all over. Other fiction, myths, folklore, history, real places (a certain theatre in Paris), odd facts about nature (killer whales assaulting sharks to eat their livers) . . . it's all useful material. The mind often takes things in indiscriminately and then spits them out later in an interesting configuration or a way that can be useful.

That's it, really - one never knows what might be useful.
