The best advice to anyone who wants to be a writer is to write and write. This seems so basic, because I think people feel they must have a grand idea in mind before they write.
Also - write even when you don't think you have anything to say or don't know where your book or story is going.
Writing, as a habit and discipline, opens up the creative channels and gets ideas flowing.
