I'm working on a book about a girl who moves around the country quite a bit with her family due to her father's job. The constant upheaval leads to a lack of self-confidence and internal questioning. She always wanted an older brother to help her with the anxiety and feelings of not fitting in, particularly at school. This book is nearly complete! To be published in the near future.
I'm also working on a manuscript that's more of an adventure story involving a young gifted boy who struggles to find his place in the world.
There are also various bits of this and that . . . ideas, beginnings of books, stories . . . in various stages of development.

Creativity is good for the soul. And I love the silence of writing and the flexibility. As a writer, you can work anywhere. At home, outside, on a beach, in an office, wherever you have a pad of paper or a laptop - and where you will make time to write.

I don't know exactly what people mean by writer's block because I don't think I have really experienced it.
I have several ideas I'm working one at the same time. Some days I feel more inclined to work on one manuscript versus another. So I just move over to that file and write there.
Also . . . I think we judge ourselves too harshly. Many days I have bits or pieces of writing that flow out or that end up refining a section or manuscript I was working on days before. Perhaps there are writers who can outflow a great deal more in one sitting, but I think more often than not, there are pieces that add up over time.

The best advice to anyone who wants to be a writer is to write and write. This seems so basic, because I think people feel they must have a grand idea in mind before they write.
Also - write even when you don't think you have anything to say or don't know where your book or story is going.
Writing, as a habit and discipline, opens up the creative channels and gets ideas flowing.
