I just finished/loved the Penric's Demon series. The Cantons are cozy as heck and the Empire has that Byzantine motif that's right down my alley. Anyway, I wanted to know what role jesters play, if any, in the world of Chalion. I assume they'd fall within the Bastard's province, but just how religious would they be? The idea of a jester-divine brings a smile to my face haha

So glad you've found Penric! I don't know if the notion of a court jester or allowed fool is in circulation in the realms around Chalion et. al. -- they don't have knights or knighthood, after all. But if so, the job might well have affiliation with the Bastard (though not in Quadrene lands). The individual could have their personal soul's allegiance to any of the gods, depending, and their degree of religious devotion or lack of same, too, would vary with the person.

Don't know if you have control over this but can you do anything to add chapter divisions in audible books? Doing one of my frequent re-listens to the V series and up to Mountains of M. Since I have it in Borders, chapter markers would help me get right to it. Also, some of the Pen novellas would be easier to navigate with them when I lose my place

For years I kept a journal and added quotes from your books that resonated with me. I don't know which book two came from: #2 - This one has been almost a mantra for me … and one of the reasons I started a Ph.D. in 2000 at age 50. Miles’ mother: "I want something(s) to look forward to so the decaying body is ignored in the excitement of the other.” Is that right? (First showed up in one of my journals before 2001.
