Nikki asked:

Would you say this book is appropriate as a read aloud for grade 4 students? 8-9 years old?

Dusti Bowling Absolutely! I think that is a great age for this story!
Julia Crainshaw If I was reading this aloud in school, there are a couple of sentences I would skip. But I totally loved this story! 5 stars!
Camilla There is a chapter that has a boy constantly saying “chicken nipple” in it due to Tourette’s... that would probably not go over well reading that in a school class.
Amy I'm currently reading this myself before I put it into my 5th grade library and I'm concerned with the reference to "boobs" 3 times. Only on page 60ish and am now thinking this books is not appropriate for 10 year olds.
Lisa I think it's a cute story but you would have to change the wording for "Looks like you are coming out of a booby" and there's another inference of the birth canal. Personally, I think there's better books out there for read alouds for 4th grade. I highly recommend Aidan of Oren. It's a 3 book series and my third grade boys and girls went nuts for it. I also recommend because of Mr. Terupt and Love that Dog followed by Hate that Cat.
