Susan Pierce
Susan Pierce asked C.H. Lawler:

Twice, I n “The Memory of Time,” you made reference to a blind man named Raymond who sold pencils, etc. in the Caddo Parish court house. What can you tell me of the inspiration for this obscure character?

C.H. Lawler Thank you, Susan. I grew up in Shreveport and remember (vaguely) a man who I believe was blind, who managed a kiosk in the lobby of the Caddo Courthouse. I don't remember his name, if I ever knew it, but he was either blind or handicapped in some way.
