C.H. Lawler Thank you, Susan. I grew up in Shreveport and remember (vaguely) a man who I believe was blind, who managed a kiosk in the lobby of the Caddo Courthouse. I don't remember his name, if I ever knew it, but he was either blind or handicapped in some way.
C.H. Lawler I read a quote from Faulkner on writing that said always quit when you're hot, that is, when you have a little more to write. I've found that this helps. I also think that reading for fun tends to help unlock things.

C.H. Lawler A novel set in Shreveport in the 1930s.
C.H. Lawler Read, especially about history. History can seem bland until you realize that there were millions of people who lived it, who had to cope with it. And you and I all had ancestors who were there.
C.H. Lawler Hard to say. It may have been one of the old Debbie Reynolds Tammy and the Bachelor movies. Also stories from my wife's family, and things my daddy said. A lot of my daddy.
