I view writer's block as problem-solving. Normally, the block links to a strand in a story which needs to be worked out/tied up. Once I reach these points in a novel, I find taking a break helps. I also like to have a notebook or laptop with me which I use to visually map the connections needed to resolve the narrative puzzle.
