Since it is basically impossible to find a kindle version or ANY sort of version of this book that doesn't cost like 100$.... How important is it to have read this book before reading the official first book of the series?

I read them in reverse order, and honestly, I think it's better that way. The end of the longer novel is more impactful if you read it first. It gives you all the background you need to understand what's going on and what happened in this book. Then, you can read this book (I got lucky, and my local library has a copy, and yes, it is one of the signed hardbacks--#488 of 1000) as soon as you find a copy and then you can get extra background details.(less)
