Good question. First, I'm an avid reader, mostly of history, and have always thought more should be said about the settlement of the western United States. Hearing a lot of stories told by elders as a child in Oklahoma prompted me to begin writing a western of which I couldn't help but lace with the factual events of the times I knew so well. Thirty years of writes and rewrites later Legend of the Dawn was born. Huh, I guess the rest is history. Good luck Karen, I wish you well. JRW
