lphharrison asked Cathy Lamb:

I have been working on a novel, my first. My mind works so much faster than my hands can type or write and I was curious about how you work through lost ideas, or if that ever happens to you?

Cathy Lamb Lindsey,
When I have an idea for something that needs to be in my book, a character, situation, dialogue, etc, I immediately write it down, or I insert it into the top of my manuscript. So, as you can imagine, I have about a page and a half, single space, of ideas, thoughts, characters, problems, that I have to address when I write the book.

All of those things are deleted as I work through, or add, or delete them, in my manuscript. Think of it as a Manuscript To Do List. Things that must be completed in the manuscript and written down before ya lose them!

Take a breath, write what's in your head, slow down a bit, it'll still be there. And keep writing...the best ideas for your story won't leave, they'll stick, as they become part of your storyline, part of the characters' lives and trajectories.
