It does not! The characters live in a fantasy world inspired by ancient Arabia. In the real world, the region has far more religions than Islam alone.
That said:
1) I didn't feel comfortable mixing Islam with fantasy/something so unreal.
2) I didn't want my identity to be paired with my debut.
3) WE HUNT THE FLAME is further proof that Arab =/= Muslim and vice versa.
