When you were flogging your first ms around, did anyone advise you to use a non-feminine pen name? (e.g., like C. J. Cherryh, or perhaps even James Tiptree.) Nowadays, of course, nobody would dare suggest it. Or maybe so; there's J. K. Rowling as a recent example.

No, although I certainly thought about it.
Amusingly, quite a few readers over the years, some admittedly speaking other languages, have not recognized "Lois" as a feminine name, so I got some of that marketing gender confusion for free anyway.
Although whenever I am put to signing a large stack of books, I often regret not going with "Lois McMaster", which would have cut the time folks had to spend in signing lines by a third.
bests, Lois.

I have a friend who loves the Vorkosigan Saga, and persuaded me to start it, and I've also fallen in love with it. She's got a birthday in September, and I would love to get her a personalized signed copy of a her favorite book in the series. Do you do anything like that? I would be happy to send you the book with postage paid for the return journey. If this is possible, I can be contacted at josh.charles@gmail.com

There's a story I don't think I've ever found. In the list of Miles' stories, it's when he's 25. And the blurb says it involves Simon, changing bones for Miles and in a hospital, and foiling a plot against his father. Supposedly, the title is Borders of Infinity, but that story is about a Cetagandan prison camp, according to the collection Miles Errant. Am I missing something?
