Fireheart
Fireheart asked Alice Oseman:

I am an introvert and don't know many people. I want to be published but am afraid that as not many people know me, my book wont sell as word would not spread around. This factor is the only thing keeping me away from getting published. Do you have any tips on this topic or about how your book might get the fame it deserves because your books and Heartstopper are selling like crazy...???

Alice Oseman When you get traditionally published (aka published by a publisher), publicity is not wholly your responsibility. Your publisher will work with you to spread the word about your book. Some of it is your responsibility - e.g. being active on social media, doing interviews, etc. But a lot of it is the publisher's responsibility - e.g. arranging interviews, sending out proof copies, marketing the book on an industry level. So try not to panic. Most authors who get published are unknown (aka they don't have any sort of online following beforehand).

Of course, if you're self-published, it's a whole different story, but I don't really know anything about that!

My books aren't really 'selling like crazy' and I'm not famous - I'm doing quite averagely for an author, haha! And that's fine. Try not to care about being famous, because most authors never become famous. Just focus on writing books and enjoying writing books.
