When writing your books did you have any say in cover art, illustrations, if there were gonna be illustrations, and which parts to have illustrated?

Nope! And I've never had any interior illustrations. I'm shown the cover artist's work, and also the preliminary sketches, but I have zero control over it.

I'm a writer. Or I'm trying to be at least. Do you have any advice for having writers block? I have an idea for a story but I don't know how to start. My story is going to be a letter from an old violin to it's new owner telling the violins history. Please help me! I really like the idea but I don't know how to start.
