How did you come up with the idea of each member of the band to have a signature piece of equipment? Even though Clay had Blackheart, it was still just as powerful, if not more than any club or hammer.

Hi!
Good question! Clay's shield is, more so than any other of the band's weapons, is a reflection of his character, and an embodiment of his role as a 'protector'.
For the rest of the band, though, their weapons were based on that character's role in a real-world rock band. Gabriel (the lead singer) has his flashy sword, Ganelon (the guitarist/axeman) his axe, Matrick (the drummer) his paired knives, and Moog (the zany guy who plays the keyboard/kazoo/cowbell/triangle) his bag of tricks.
