While I enjoyed the book, I found it fairly average and wouldn't rush to recommend it to anyone...I did however, love the ending! I mean, obviously it frustrated the hell out of me, but in a good way! I would definitely say it was my favourite part of the book.

Yep, she sure was. I thought it was a good ending. I am so fed up with every book being totally predictable.

Yes, I found it disturbing and very somber and sad. I don't think Fi will go to jail for her crime.I absolutely loved the book and wouldn't change a thing about it.

I just finished this book and had the same question. Thanks for all the answers that pretty much summed up what I thought. It also didn't sit right with me that Fi would do what she did.

I think that the ending was what is called irony, in its most extreme sense. It was like the end of Ocean's Eleven, where they all sit in the funeral parlor and learn, to their utter amazement and chagrin, that the money they were hoping to dig up later with the corpse in the coffin was to be burned in a cremation.

I'm confused about Bram's extramarital activities. Who is Saskia? He used the pseudonym "Constance" to protect Merle's identity, and when Merle (Constance) visits the flat he thinks ast first it might be Saskia, so they're definitely not the same person. Did I miss a reference to Saskia ewrlier on?

At first, I didn't think I'd like the way the book was constructed, but I soon got used to it, and I loved every minute of it. Loved all the twists and turns. A few things stretched the imagination, like how did Wendy know Bram would give her a second look? And the same for Toby and Fi. But all-in-all, I really, really loved the book. The only thing I could guess was that Merle was "Constance" when she was drinking water at the getaway in Kent.
