I don't study English in university, but writing is my passion, and my dream would be to become an author one day. Do you think it is still possible for me to become a writer without having taken writing courses?

Alwyn Hamilton You absolutely do not need an English degree to be an author, or to take a writing course, or to have a creative writing degree. I don't have one, I studied Art History and never took a writing class. I'd say of the authors I know, it's about 50/50 on which ones have degrees in English and which ones have degrees in completely unrelated things. You don't have to hand a CV into agents or editors, all they really care about is the quality of the book, and that quality is not dependent on any degrees.
