Tanzela asked Alwyn Hamilton:

This is the second time I'm asking you a question and sorry if I'm bothering you but- I put the world of the book on like a map of our work and I figured Amani and Ahmed and Shahzad and them lot are from like the middle east and I'm guessing Sam's British but I cant seem to figure out where Jin would be from. So where would he be from? I love your books and can't wait for anything new you write!

Alwyn Hamilton You are not bothering me at all! Don't worry :-)

So yes, if we were drawing real world parallels, geographically and ethnically, Miraji resembles the Arabian Penninsula. And Albis would be the British Isles, Gallandie would be France. Espa would be spain. Gammanix would be equivalent to Germany. And Xicha, where Jin's mother is from, would correspond to East Asia. Though, ethnically speaking Jin is also half Mirajin :-)
