I was a huge fan of Lisa Scottoline's book, KEEP QUIET. It was suspenseful but didn't have gore or anything extreme. But this one looks different. Super-dark and almost Picoult-esque. Does this read like a Jodi Picoult novel? Jodi Picoult is talented, but I find her books emotionally exhausting to read. It's both a pro and a con. I'm just wondering if that's what I'd be getting into by picking up AFTER ANNA.

For some reason, I find her books to be hit or miss for me - for this very reason. A lot of undeveloped characters and plot twists that are not believable.(less)
