I was a huge fan of Lisa Scottoline's book, KEEP QUIET. It was suspenseful but didn't have gore or anything extreme. But this one looks different. Super-dark and almost Picoult-esque. Does this read like a Jodi Picoult novel? Jodi Picoult is talented, but I find her books emotionally exhausting to read. It's both a pro and a con. I'm just wondering if that's what I'd be getting into by picking up AFTER ANNA.

I also love all of the local flavor that Scottoline adds to her books, plus she is a very funny and kind person, which I think comes through in her writing.(less)
