Goodreads asked Haru Ichiban:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Haru Ichiban I rarely suffer major author's block (I think my longest period was a couple weeks). I once suffered it for months when my artwork was unfairly and HARSHLY criticized by some little nobodies. Now that I got older and (hopefully) wiser I would never let that under my skin.

But if I really need to get my creative juices flowing, I just observe life.
For example, yesterday I met the sloppiest, lamest guards EVER. I can't think of a place I would put them right now, but they're priceless as book characters. (The only problem is when I eventually do, people will think I'm very exaggerated. Fiction has to make sense, life does not).
