So, re-reading Penric, I got to thinking about the problem of demons jumping from humans to animals, and Des' reluctance to end up in a dolphin. Because dolphins are pretty smart, really. And then that got me wondering about how often that Roknari trick with the cushion...backfires. I mean, what if instead of a jellyfish the demon jumps into a passing shark? Or a sperm whale? Not to make any literary allusions.

Heh. Many are the possibilities. We've seen what can happen when a human-sized demon is forced to jump to a smaller mammal; one could extrapolate from there.

I just listened to the Curse of Chalion three successive times. Must be my age and lack of health, but I found him and his story to be profound. In these times where honor and truth seem so passé. I loved how he turned away from seeking glory and found such reverence for kindness. I dare not hope, but if your wonderful genius meets another such character, it would be a great gift. What do you think?
