Unni asked David Wong:

Hello, Jason or David or whatever the hell I should call you! I am in 8th grade and have a project due on may 4 (I procrastinated). I need some information about you! I promise I'm not a stalker. a few questions that I had: What influenced your writing style? What inspired you to write John dies at the end? That is about it. Loved your book and will enjoy sequels. Thanks for the help! That drawing was weird btw.

David Wong Book influences include Douglas Adams and his Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, John Kennedy Toole (Confederacy of Dunces is a meticulous clockwork comedy that's still full of humanity and empathy) and Stephen King (who taught me that supernatural horror must be grounded in the mundane - characters watch real TV shows and eat real fast food in between attacks. As for what inspired me, I think that's like asking you what inspired you to get hungry at lunchtime -- it's just something that happens naturally, I couldn't stop if I wanted to. I daydream and putting the daydreams on paper feels like a natural way to process them.
