Why did Rob as Adele have to tell David that he killed Rob at all? Couldn’t he have just gone on as Adele and pretended like Rob had left? That would have negated their weird marriage issues after which was a plot device but is there any other reason for it?

So then Rob essentially started blackmailing David by holding the watch in the well over his head - if David ever left Adele (Rob), then Adele would claim that David killed Rob, as evidenced by Rob's body in the well and David's watch with it.(less)
