This is my first Koontz. I'm only a few chapters in, but I'm wondering if I should throw in the towel. I'm feeling the same combination of annoyance and nausea that I had watching Odd Thomas. I think the problem may be that I'm a cat person, and this book stinks of dog. Does that make sense to any Koontz fans out there who aren't dog people? It's like this book was written by Mr. Peanut Butter wearing his glasses.

I like both dogs and cats, and like in real life the dog in the story is more perceptive about humans than humans themselves. The dog doesn't appear a LOT in this book or you could skip those paragraphs. :-) If you do you won't miss much storyline.(less)
